Visiting North Sulawesi

North Sulawesi is probably one of the best diving areas world wide. Its marine diversity is unparalleled. Beautiful slopes and walls full of corals and sponges await you as well as areas covered with black lava sand, where some of the world's most extraordinary critters can be found. Also snorkelers will be entirely happy here.

Nevertheless North Sulawesi offers a great range of possibilites on the land, too. The guest can, for example, visit the famous Tangkoko national park, climb volcano craters, explore caves, bath in hot springs or go to one of the local markets.

For the lazy hours of your holiday, the beautiful landscape and pristine beaches offer the best background. And finally if you like shopping, you will find some good opportunities in Manado's markets and shopping malls.

North Sulawesi is a very safe place to visit: The ethnic strife in Central and South Sulawesi has not affected this area. The Philippine rebel group Abu Sayyaf are said to operate in the northern islands near the Philippine border, but no attacks or kidnappings have been publicized.
