Water for Kinunang

The PSCRF's second investment

In Kinunang, North Sulawesi, many residents, especially children, are suffering from bad skin diseases because of the enduring humidity and contaminated water in the wet season. During the dry season, however, the village suffers from water shortage.

Boy carrying water

An additional water storage with a pump and an underground pipeline system would ease the situation. The Freundeskreis Lembeh-Pulisan-Bangka e.V. has now decided to start such a project, in which the registered society is supported by Planet Sulawesi.

Girl at the well

The project will be realized as "help to self-help"-project together with the village residents.
The Freundeskreis Lembeh-Pulisan-Bangka will finance the building material, while the local people are responsible for the incidental work and follow-up maintainance of the new drinking water facility.

The overall costs will be about

2,500 Euro

We would be very happy, if you would help us to finance the project.

Every Euro is important!

Maybe you can rouse yourself to drink only a glass of our excellent drinking water instead of your next visit in a coffeehouse, and give the money you saved in this way to the people in Kinunang.

Apart from a pleasant visit in a coffeehouse: The residents there have no access to this most important of all foodstuffs, which runs from very water-pipe in best quality here in our country:

To clean drinking water!

We have in many cases forgotten to appreciate this fact!

Inside the well

You can support the project by a direct donation to the Freundeskreis Lembeh-Pulisan-Bangka in Germany:

IBAN: DE 604 165 17 70 0000 021311
BIC CODE: WELADED 1 HSL

You can also contact Planet Sulawesi in Austria to make a donation. If you want, you can get a 40 minutes DVD with great photographs of North Sulawesi. Please just ask us for it!

All donations will be transfered to the Freundeskreis Lembeh-Pulisan-Bangka in summary transfers to save banking costs.

Great efficiency

You can be sure that every single Euro you donate will reach the people in Kinunang. While other, mostly bigger agencies have an organisational overhead of about 20 percent of their donations sum, we have nothing like that. No member of the Freundeskreis Lembeh-Pulisan-Bangka and of Planet Sulawesi earns money for his or her personal commitment and all organisational costs are carried by ourselves.

The current project status

In the mid of June 2007 we sent a first amount of 150 Euro to Kinunang, to support the already ongoing hole drilling in search of water for the well. One month later the drills reached 23 meters, although it was tedious work, since the ground is extremely hard and the drills broke many times. But water was found and a well has been created, which delivers enough drinking water to fill two tanks located in the center of the village. In October 2007 we could again support the ongoing work with 300 Euro donations.
